From the manufacturer

Incredibly Fast 280 Hz Refresh Rate

Astonishing overclockable 280Hz refresh rate means the display is almost twice as fast as conventional 144 Hz monitors. You'll experience amazingly-fluid gaming visuals, giving you the upper hand in first-person shooters, racing, real-time strategy and sports titles.

Fast IPS Display−1ms (GTG) Response Time

Fast IPS Display allows the display's liquid crystal elements to switch up to 4X faster than conventional IPS panels for improved response. With a 1 ms gray-to-gray response time, smearing and motion blur are virtually eliminated. This display also delivers superior images with outstanding colors thanks to 72% NTSC color gamut and an astounding 1,000:1 contrast ratio. Wide 178-degree viewing angles ensure minimal distortion and color shift even when you're viewing from extreme positions.

Certified NVIDIA G−SYNC Compatible

With variable-refresh-rate (VRR) technology enabled by default, you're assured seamless, tear-free gaming experiences from your NVIDIA GeForce GTX 10 or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 20-series graphics card.

Extreme Low Motion Blur (ELMB) Sync

With ELMB SYNC, you can enable ELMB (extreme- low-motion-blur technology) and Adaptive-sync at the same time, eliminating ghosting and tearing for sharp visuals and high frame rates while gaming.

High Dynamic Range (HDR) with DisplayHDR 400

HDR technology delivers a wider color range and higher contrast than traditional monitors. The brightest whites and the darkest blacks bring out details like never before. The display is also capable of 400 cd/m2, meeting the stringent requirements for DisplayHDR 400 certification.

Multi HDR Mode

Now you can choose from multiple HDR modes to adjust monitor HDR performance based on the current viewing scenario.

Dynamic Shadow Boost

ASUS Dynamic Shadow Boost technology automatically clarifies dark areas of the game world with optimizing other areas, improving overall viewing while also making it easier to spot enemies hidden in shaded areas of the map.

GamePlus

The ASUS-exclusive, integrated GamePlus hotkey offers in-game enhancements that help you get more out of your game. This function is co-developed with input from pro gamers, allowing them to practice and improve their gaming skills.

GameVisual

ASUS GameVisual Technology has seven pre-set display modes to optimize visuals for different types of content. This unique feature can be easily accessed through a hotkey or the on-screen display settings menu.

Flicker-Free technology

Flicker-Free technology reduces flicker to minimize eyestrain for improved comfort when you're embroiled in long gaming sessions.

Ultra-Low Blue Light technology

ASUS Ultra-Low Blue Light technology reduces the amount of potentially harmful blue light emitted by the display. Four different filter settings are available to control the amount of blue light reduction.

Rich connectivity

Extensive connectivity options, including DisplayPort1.2, HDMI 2.0x2 and Earphone Jack offer support for wide array of multimedia devices.

- Good color accuracy out of the box. Didn''t have to adjust much other than the obscenely high brightness that every monitor seems to come with nowadays.
- ELMB is surprisingly good even though it seems to lock the overdrive. If I had to guess, it would be overdrive 60 since it''s the default setting of the monitor. I had only heard bad things about ELMB from reviews on other models so I was glad to see it''s at least a little bit useful here.
- No grainy text or anything of that sort that plagued a couple of 24" models from the previous year.
- Menu is easy to navigate and the OSD joystick is of good quality.
- Really good heavy stand that can pivot, tilt, rotate, and height adjust.
- The speakers are well, monitor speakers. If you''ve heard monitor speakers, you''ve mostly heard them all. Can''t expect much from 2 watts. The option is there though.

Also I''m not sure if this is a feature on every 240hz monitor since this is my first one but I found it interesting that Windows registered the panel as 10 bit color when below 240hz. For the people worried about 60hz performance, sorry. I don''t have any equipment or the knowledge to give specific numbers. All I can say is that when I played on my PS4/Switch I didn''t notice any excess input lag.

All in all I highly recommend the monitor if you''re on the lookout for a 240hz panel. The price ($319) is in my opinion really good when you take everything into account (IPS, 240hz, good build quality, ergonomic stand). I tried a 1440p monitor and didn''t think the performance hit was worth the minuscule fidelity gain. If you''re looking for a monitor you''ll strictly use for gaming/browsing, I really think you''re better off sticking with the tried and true 24"/1080p combo so that you can utilize higher frame rates and not have to worry about messing with Windows scaling to have easily readable text. It''s also easier to utilize multi-monitor setups with smaller monitor sizes. If you need the extra real estate that 1440p/4k gives for multitasking, then probably already know what you want. Everyone has different needs.

Edit: Since reviews for this model seem to have been consolidated with a bunch of other models, this is for "VG259QM". I know it should say above the review but I want to point it out here just to eliminate any possible confusion.

I was looking for a monitor that would allow me to have my PC, PS4, and Switch all connected on the same screen without having to move anything around. Considering this is a 280hz, you''re covered for competitive, you get the IPS for amazing color production to enjoy single player gaming, it''s 24.5in it''s the perfect PPI for it to like nice and crisp and it''s also 1080p meaning you will have no compatibility issues when swapping platforms. I downgraded from my PG279Q mainly because it was only good for single player gaming, and PS4 / Switch looked blurry because they don''t support 1440p resolution.

Pros:

- Colors look stunning out of the box, no calibration was necessary
- Joystick makes navigating the menus a breeze
- No "fuzzy" text or green tint
- No backlight bleed
- Extremely fast and responsive
- G-Sync eliminates tearing and makes games feel smooth even If you are below the average FPS
- HDR 400 is surprisingly good despite the negative reviews surrounding HDR on monitor displays

Cons:

- 1080p resolution, I personally don''t see this as a con, but I could see how it would bother some people considering higher resolutions are getting more popular

So to start off, I got on my Girlfriend''s Amazon account just to write this review because I was so pleased with this product (I ordered the monitor on her account since she has Prime). Let me just say wow, the difference in performance I got from this monitor from a 144hz monitor to a 280 hz was tremendous, to the point 144hz appears choppy to me. Obviously this machine is gonna require some pretty par hardware to achieve 280 fps consistently, but man if you reach it , its insane. For background, when I played OW competitively, I was t500 multiple seasons, Global Elite on CSGO, and am right now Diamond 2 in Valorant (still on that grind baby). You immediately notice non-existent screen tearing, the ability to perfectly track even during fast motions such a Jett dash, Genji dash etc.. Trust me, if you play games very competitively, this is your monitor and for a really good price. Can''t get past the 1080p on the monitor for the price? Its ok the 24.5 In version keeps the pixels pretty tight so you don''t have to worry about pixelated images and you''ll be fast af boi. If you are upgrading from 240Hz to this though, I do not reccomend buying this product, I''d say wait until the 360hz monitor comes out since that will too be a huge leap. Best of luck Gamers, I had to write this review because I didn''t see enough of them for this beauty, peace. :)

So I originally bought one of these on July 2020 and received one of the first generation of its kind. It was overall perfect, only one minor problem but was easily fixed and other than that no issues whatsoever. These came back in stock months after for a short period and I purchased two of them for dual monitor purposes.

The first purchase was from a different retailer because they had it in stock before amazon, but long story short this new generation has massive problems. Apparently many others are experiencing this issue as well. The monitor will occasionally just black out and shut off whilst gaming for 3-5 seconds at random periods. Also when starting up the computer for first time or restarting, the screen will shut off and go black till you turn it off/on upon starting any gaming application. I returned this and purchased another from Amazon with exact same issues(but came with a dead pixel as well) concluding this as an issue with the product itself and not just a one-time case. I''ll also add that I plugged in one monitor at a time for testing purposes and had the original older model on standby.

The older version of VG259QM did not come close to having any of these issues, something Asus did with either the new firmware or perhaps cheaper hardware this time around has made this product completely unusable. Hopefully the next round of manufacturing they will perhaps fix this issue.

It is a very common practice for companies to go all out for their product at first, but upon success of sales they would use cheaper materials for mass production in future batches to maximize profits. Just hope this is not one of these cases otherwise this monitor would have received 5 stars(my older July VG259QM still deserves this rating).

The monitor I picked is the "ASUS TUF Gaming VG279QM 27” HDR Monitor, 1080P Full HD (1920 x 1080), Fast IPS, 280Hz, G-SYNC Compatible, Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync (ELMB SYNC), 1ms, DisplayHDR 400"
I only had one problem with this monitor and that was the data cable that comes with the monitor (you get 1 HDMI and 1 Data Cable in box plus power cord). I had to purchase a "Infinnet DisplayPort 1.4 Cable 8K 60Hz, 4K 144Hz, 4K 120Hz, 2K 280Hz 240Hz, 1080p 360Hz DisplayPort to DisplayPort Cable DP 1.4 HBR3 Cord, HDR, VESA Certified, 3 Meters (9.84 ft) Black" (that is on Amazon for $30) and this cable is so much better than the one that comes in the box (because its gold tipped and not silver like the one you get with monitor) and it actualy fits into my graphics card. Plus it makes the images and text crystal clear and not fuzzy than the original cable. It was so nice of Amazon to help pay for the costs for that new cable. Thanks Amazon!! Now to get Gsync ability you must use the data cable, not the HDMI cable. Some people complain that the resolution isn''t good enough, then buy the cable I mentioned. Ever hear of downsampling? Look it up, you can simulate 4k resolution on this monitor (so you get the best of both worlds, better visual and fast hz) and will not hurt it one bit, even though they recommend not doing so, so use at your own discretion but I think its because they want you to purchase the more expensive monitor. Unless you got 32 GB of memory in your rig like I do, then you can do supersampling to boost the visuals and images. I also recommend using at least a MSI Geforce GTX 1080 graphic card for best performance. Now while most software cant go beyond 240 hz yet while this monitor can perform at 280 hz, lets hope the programmers out there can kick it up a notch. Make sure to turn on HD mode in windows when using this monitor even though it will turn off Game Visual in the monitors menu option when you do. Shadow Boost will also be disabled in menu options, not sure why but it doesn''t matter, the monitor is bright enough even at HDR 400. The ability to swivel, tilt, height adjustment on this monitor is amazing, you can even view content with your monitor sidways if you wish. There was no bleeding, dead pixels or damages on the monitor and it was very secure in the box when shipped. I recommend getting Prime when purchasing and you can get it monthly instead of yearly. I received it in just 2 days after purchase.
The BEST and FASTEST monitor created!

Like many others have said, the QA on ASUS monitors is really bad. I ordered two, and had to return one for replacement. Fortunately, the replacement works perfectly. I purchased the four-year warranty addon (which I highly recommend). When you hook them up, download some benchmarking software and really put it through its paces, making sure you change up all the various screen settings, because sometimes the problem will only show up in the outlyer setting ranges, but that just means they will eventually show up in your regular settings down the road.

I have a love/hate relationship with ASUS; when their products work, they work great and the specs can''t be beaten, but it''s definitely a silicon lottery getting a product that works out of the box! If you order this model, make sure to read the instructions, because to get the full Hz/FPS advertised you have to turn on an "overclocked" setting. The same goes for G-SYNC. The ASUS brand of frame-rate syncing (ELMB) is *terrible*. Their HDR support is also very "slow" to turn on, so when waking from sleep or a screen suspend, there''s a good one second delay for the signal to lock on to an HDR feed.

Also, make sure you''re using the latest NVidia graphics card drivers *AND* download the monitor driver .inf file from ASUS, as that will provide a color profile and allow full support by your NVidia card!

Once everything is working, the Hz/framerate is fantastic for gaming! I''m hopeful I won''t have issues down the road and that I get many years of good usage, but with such high Hz only time will tell. I''ll update if I run into any issues!

I''ve had this monitor for a couple of weeks now and so far it''s been great. No dead pixels, no stuck pixels, and no backlight bleed out of the box.

Pros -

- I''d done quite a bit of research before making this purchase and I can tell you it''s definitely worth the sub $300 price. Even at $400+ this monitor would be worth it IMO.

- The colors out of the box were great, no complaints there, although I''m no expert when it comes to color accuracy. Absolutely no backlight bleed either, which is common with IPS panels. I may have just gotten lucky in this regard though.. It''s extremely bright as well, in fact I feel running it above 60/70 brightness to be TOO bright.

- The stand is good quality, sturdy, and surprisingly versatile. I set it where I want it, and it stays there.

- Response time/input lag are LOW! It has one of the best response times/input lag out of all of the newer "fast ips" monitors. It even competes with the response times/input lag of TN panels. At 280Hz and 80 OD, it measures at 1.7ms. I personally prefer 240Hz @ 60 OD, which is what you get out of the box, after setting 240Hz in Windows of course. But if you can consistently hit 280+ FPS in the games you play, I''d recommend 280Hz @ 80 OD.

I haven''t used ELMB, so I can''t speak on that regard, but I have heard good things about it. I''ve also read that it can run 240Hz @ 10bit.

Cons -

The only con I can think of is the joy stick. While it is GREAT and makes navigating the menu extremely easy; it feels a little cheap. I haven''t had any issues with it, but I worry how it may hold up over time.

If you''re like me and do a lot of competitive gaming and enjoy a nice picture with no ghosting/blur, I highly recommend this monitor.

Okay realize I went from a 27" 60 hertz monitor to this one so here''s my take:

This is amazingly better! It''s not even a comparison 60 hz is garbage once you see what something like this looks like. Now if you have a 144 hz monitor at this point it''s probably not that big of a jump, but if you have a 60 hertz monitor and you haven''t gotten a 144 yet, go for this one!

The titles I''ve played on 240Hz are buttery smooth, and because it''s 1080p, your CPU & GPU combo can actually deliver the frames. Even with the latest RTX 3000 cards from Nvidia, 4K gaming is still not playable... Not like this!

And 1440p should have never been made. That was a problem in search of a solution. it''s not enough of a jump visually to make a difference, and they only went to 1440p because the graphics cards at the time really couldn''t handle 4K... Remember when the GTX 960 was dubbed to 4K GPU! HA!!!

Honestly from the benchmarks I''ve seen, even the RTX 3080 would make a good GPU for 1080p -- coupled with a good CPU, you could really crank the frames all the way up and deliver the performance needed for this monitor.

It''s time we get over visual pixel count, and get into frame rate. There''s a huge gaming difference!!!

as far as office, there is no eye strain or any visual impairment to using this all day. I''m on this thing for work for hours, and I don''t even notice it.

FYI HDR 400 is the lowest HDR spec. I think it''s better than no HDR, but I realize there''s a lot better HDR screens out there... Just no longer at this price point. If you''re not looking for the best HDR, this one is well worth it to get what you need and enjoy that''s smoothness 😁

My movements feel so light! 144 -> 240/280 = yeah stuff is noticeably smoother and things feel a tad more responsive I guess 240 vs. 280 = I can barely tell the difference between the two settings. This too, probably. -G-Sync VRR. No more tearing. -No thick power cord to route along a desk -Relatively affordable for what it is -Joystick on the monitor for easy OSD navigation. Every monitor should have one of these. Very visible artifacts and ghosting. -HDR400 is unusable. Colors are desaturated and blacks are even more grey than normal. Treat this as an SDR monitor only. -Backlight uniformity on my unit isn''t perfect. Not enough to bother me in-game but enough to notice on white web pages (like now as I''m typing this review). A noticeable upgrade from 144? Sure why not.

Liquid smooth performance. Blacks are excellent for my use given the price tag for 1080P. Excellent contrast. To take advantage of NVIDIA G−SYNC be sure you have nvidia card! I love the viewing angle on this monitor unlike other cheap monitors. Crisp sharp images and flicker free performance makes this a joy to look at for long periods of time. The stand is height adjustable. Cant rotate CW or CCW 90degrees which is convenient because of cable management direction. You can remove the monitor from its mount and expose the standard VESA mount points in order to mount on your own desk mount Out of box, it doesnt look that well calibrated IMO. I use spyderproX to calibrate my monitor to reasonable spec for RGB. I use it to also do Adobe Lightroom editing and paper prints so calibration is essential. Built-in speaker is "meh". Not that great. But in a pinch it works. Honestly nobody expects built-in monitor speakers to be used for anything other than mediocre. It is just nice to have when you mainly use headphones anyway -- and like the option to go speaker-mode for sharing some video clip sound with others temporarily. Has headphone out too! I think by todays 2021 standard 1080p is dated. So buying this monitor at > $300 is a bit much but if you are able to snag a deal on warehouse deals for sub $200 then i think you will be pretty happy with this monitor.

Every color looks saturated, the reds appear slightly pink and also white, all colors looks contrasted, this looks good for movies, but anything else is pain. If you read this, try another monitor, maybe better color gammut or accuracy, because this is trash.
